Nutrition label requirements in United Kingdom and European Union

The UK/EU nutrition declaration is a per-100 g/mL table, not a per-serving %DV panel. Allergens are declared in the ingredient list and emphasised, and the list of regulated allergens is larger than the US nine.

Serving Fact currently generates US FDA Nutrition Facts labels only.

This page explains the target format so you can plan. It is not a generator for United Kingdom and European Union, and it is not legal advice. Verify the current requirements with UK Food Standards Agency; EU Regulation 1169/2011 before printing.

What changes compared with the US label

  • Salt is declared, not sodium. The conversion is salt = sodium × 2.5.
  • Energy is declared in both kJ and kcal.
  • The per-100 g/mL column is the mandatory basis; a per-serving column is additional.
  • The allergen list has 14 entries, including celery, cereals containing gluten, lupin, molluscs and sulphites.

What you can reuse

The recipe composition work is the same everywhere: ingredients in grams, nutrient totals, finished weight and a per-100 g density. What changes is the panel, the reference values, the serving-size rules and the language. A US label is a bad starting point for a United Kingdom and European Union label if you only translate the headings.

Plan for the expansion

The current product is FDA-only by design. Each market needs its own layout, its own serving-size table and its own nutrient set — that is a new build, not a translation. If you need a United Kingdom and European Union label today, work with a local labeling professional.
